Nokia has created a 84x48 8-bit display, and it's pretty cheap.

The Nokia 5110 LCD will give us the ability to create a small screen to output graphics onto. This can be educational as it will teach us about how to efficiently create sleek graphics. These graphics be used to create phrases or emotions the robots can display. Emotions such as sadness when being killed by another robot, or happiness when killing another robot. But the potential is nearly infinite for this attachment, because it will allow us to display nearly anything we want.

Graphics like these could be displayed on the Lego bots.

This site is currently having a sale, so the grand total would be $11.07 (Post Shipping and Tax).
